The English Single Cask Madeira Cask

Our single cask releases continue to gain popularity and I think for good reason. Every cask is unique and has a story to tell. The distillers art in making the un-matured spirit is then enhanced by very careful cask selections for the incredibly long journey that then follows. Over the decades following distillation we keep an eye on the maturing whisky inside the cask and when the whisky tastes lovely it is time for bottling. This decision on when to bottle is a big one, leave it too long and the wood can become overpowering, bottle too early and some of the magic imparted by the cask can be missed. This Madeira cask has given the whisky a glorious taste of nuts and fruits and its fabulous colour.

The single cask bottlings are wonderful stories in their own right; each has a history going back years, and the spirit was hand-distilled by the current team or by now-retired distillers. Each cask is unique and a little time capsule that reflects the love the distillery team have bestowed on it each year.

The Cask

The Nose

Sweet vanilla, fresh plums, crushed almonds and honey.

The Palate

Full-bodied with notes of stewed pear, almonds, cinnamon, nutmeg, oak and smooth dark chocolate

The Finish

A medium long finish with oak and hints of black pepper.
