We are very proud to announce that The English Distillery has won with four different whiskies at the 2025 IWSC Awards.

The IWSC is the world’s largest and most influential spirits awards, setting the benchmark for international wine and spirit quality. Worldwide Whisky delivered standout entries this year, with judges praising the top whiskies for pushing quality to new levels.

Founded in 1969 by Anton Massel as The International Wine and Spirits Competition, the first official awards were held in 1970. The competition now attracts approximately 12,000 entries every year.

We are thrilled that our newest release, The English Chapter 18, took Spirit Gold with a huge 96/100 points. This landmark release was created to celebrate our 18th birthday, and kickstarts a series of events and releases over the year to mark this momentous event. As part of this, we have resurrected the chapter series in homage to our original range of single malts.

Chapter 18 is unique in that we have taken whisky from the very finest casks laid down between 18 years and 10 years ago. The casks chosen were a selection of Bourbon, Sherry and Virgin casks. Most are unpeated, but a little is peated, which gives an extra layer to the flavours but without resulting in a peated whisky.

The resulting whisky is eminently drinkable and a true showcase of the work the distillers have carried out tirelessly over nearly two decades.

The Norfolk Popcorn is one of our most popular Norfolk range whiskies and achieved Spirit Gold with a brilliant score of 95/100 points. This unique grain whisky continues our exploration of grain distillation with this sweet and gently spicy expression - a profile reminiscent of top-shelf bourbon, but made right here in England.   

The boldly sweet Norfolk PX won Spirit Silver with 92/100 points. Perfect on its own over ice as a dessert/digestif, or splashed into an Old Fashioned instead of sugar, this sumptuous liqueur is multi-award winning and a perpetual favourite.

The Norfolk Farmers Single Grain Whisky took the final award, achieving Spirit Silver with 91/100 points. This exceptional single cask whisky represents an exploration of how different grains can come together to produce altogether astonishing results. The perfect marriage of spiced apple and honey with rich milk chocolate and caramelised almonds, this is a decadent dram you will keep coming back to for the perfect after dinner tipple.
