Founders' Private Cellar - 19 Year Old PX Sherry Hogshead

Only the second-ever bottling of a White Label Founders’ whisky. A white label is reserved for any of our whiskies over 18 years old, and the Founders’ Private Cellar range consists of whisky from the founding family’s personal collection.

This collection of casks is created from unique cask types or whiskies that have a unique taste profile and have been reserved by the family. After a long maturation period, a cask is very occasionally released for public sale.

All Founders bottlings are single cask and bottled at cask strength. The end result is a very short run of bottles that are highly sought after. Each individually numbered bottle is hand-filled and checked before being released.

The joy of a single cask bottling is that it can never be repeated, and each one produces a completely unique whisky. This particular cask has an extraordinary taste that is quite sublime.

The Nose

Rich and heavily sherried, with layers of dried fruit, plum and dark chocolate, alongside crushed nuts and warming notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Burnt caramel and vanilla bring sweetness, with a subtle lift of orange.

The Palate

Rich, smooth and silky, with dried fruits and plum giving way to dark chocolate, caramel and honey. Warming oak spice is balanced by vanilla and orange peel, with a decadent note of Christmas cake adding further depth.

The Finish

Long and rich, with lingering dried fruit and warming oak spice.
